Fix Among Us Error 6 Sent 6 Reliable Packet Disconnect (2025)

Updated: 11/29/2025

You are in the middle of a clutch round, tasks almost done, when the screen freezes and a popup appears saying Error 6 Sent 6 Reliable Packet or a similar disconnect message. Your friends keep playing while you are sent back to the main menu. This error usually means the game client and server stopped agreeing on network packets, often because of unstable internet, wrong region, or corrupted temporary data.

Method 1: Stabilize Your Network And Reduce Packet Loss

Among Us uses small but constant data packets, so even short drops or spikes can cause the server to give up and drop you with Error 6. Making your connection more stable fixes a large percentage of random disconnects.

Step 1: Use A Wired Connection Or Strong 5 GHz Wi Fi

If you are playing on PC, connect your device to the router with an Ethernet cable whenever possible. On phones or tablets, switch to a 5 GHz Wi Fi network and move closer to the router instead of playing on congested 2,4 GHz bands or public hotspots.

Step 2: Restart Router And Close Bandwidth Heavy Apps

Unplug your router for about 20 seconds, plug it back in, and wait until internet is fully restored. While playing, pause large downloads, cloud backups, or 4K streams on other devices, freeing bandwidth so Among Us packets do not get delayed or dropped.

Step 3: Test Your Connection With Another Online Game Or Speed Test

Run a speed and latency test, then try another lightweight online game, if both show spikes, lag, or disconnects, fix those general internet issues first, since Among Us is simply reacting to the same instability with Error 6.

Method 2: Match Server Region And Avoid Overloaded Regions

Turn off any VPN or IP masking app you use before launching Among Us, these often route traffic through distant servers, increasing ping and jitter. Playing with your normal, local IP usually produces a cleaner route to game servers and fewer disconnects.

Warning: Some public VPN exit nodes are flagged by game servers and can be rate limited or blocked, leading to disconnects even if your base connection is solid.

Method 3: Refresh Game Files, Cache, And Platform Settings

On consoles, open network settings and test your connection and NAT type, aim for Open or Moderate NAT since Strict NAT can cause more drops when joining peers. Make sure Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo Online services are not reporting outages which can indirectly cause packet errors in Among Us.
