Fix iPhone Stuck on Apple Logo (Boot Loop) - No Data Loss

Updated: 11/29/2025

You restart your iPhone, the white Apple logo appears, and... it stays there. For hours. Or it flashes on and off repeatedly. This is called a Boot Loop. It happens when the iOS software fails a startup security check, usually due to full storage (Error 14) or a failed update installation.

Method 1: The Force Restart (Magic Combo)

This physically cuts power to the battery and forces the motherboard to reboot. It works differently than just holding the power button.

For iPhone 8, X, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15:

1. Press and quickly release Volume Up.
2. Press and quickly release Volume Down.
3. Press and HOLD the Side Button (Power).
4. Keep holding (ignore the 'slide to power off') until the screen goes black and the Apple logo comes back. Release.

Method 2: Recovery Mode Update (iTunes)

If the restart fails, you need to reinstall iOS without wiping data.

Step 1: Connect to PC/Mac

Plug the iPhone into a computer with iTunes (or Finder).

Step 2: Enter Recovery

Perform the 'Force Restart' button combo from Method 1, but keep holding the power button even after the Apple logo appears, until you see the 'Laptop/Cable' icon.

Step 3: Click Update

iTunes will pop up saying 'There is a problem with the iPhone'. Click UPDATE (not Restore). This reinstalls the OS while keeping your photos safe.

Method 3: Check for Water Damage

If the boot loop happened after dropping the phone in water, do not charge it. The loop is caused by a short circuit in the FaceID sensor (earpiece). Take it to a repair shop immediately.
