Fix Canva 'Download Failed' & 'Something Went Wrong' Errors

Updated: 11/29/2025

You spent hours perfecting your design. You hit Share > Download, and the progress bar stops halfway. A red error appears: 'Download Failed. Something went wrong on our end.'. This is a nightmare for social media managers and creators working on a deadline. While it claims to be a server error, it is almost always a local browser resource issue, usually caused by a design that is too 'heavy' for your current internet connection or graphics driver.

Method 1: The 'Individual Page' Trick

If your design has 50 pages or lots of high-res images, the PDF generation script often times out.

Step 1: Select Pages

In the Download menu, look for 'Select pages'. Uncheck 'All pages'.

Step 2: Download in Batches

Select just pages 1-10 and download them. Then do 11-20. This reduces the file size and memory load, allowing the export to finish successfully.

Method 2: Check WebGL Support

Canva is a browser-based tool that relies on WebGL graphics acceleration. If your browser disabled it, Canva breaks.

Step 1: Chrome Flags

Type this into your address bar and hit Enter:

chrome://gpu

Look for 'WebGL'. If it says 'Unavailable' or 'Disabled', you need to go to Settings > System and enable 'Use graphics acceleration when available'.

Method 3: Remove 'Heavy' Elements

Sometimes a single corrupted element breaks the whole export.

Troubleshooting: Copy your design to a new file. Delete the videos or GIFs one by one. Try downloading after each deletion. You will often find one specific sticker or video that is causing the crash.
