Fix Destiny 2 Error Code Weasel & Baboon (Connection Fix)
Updated: 11/29/2025
You are in the middle of a Grandmaster Nightfall or a Raid boss, and the screen goes black. You reappear in orbit with a message: 'Contacting Destiny 2 Servers' followed by Error Code: WEASEL or BABOON. Bungie uses specific animal names to categorize packet loss. These errors specifically mean your connection to the Bungie world server is experiencing 'packet fragmentation'—basically, your console sent data, but the server received it in a garbled mess.

The 'Cross-Save' Conflict (Weasel)
Error Code WEASEL is unique because it can also trigger if someone else logs into your account on a different platform (Cross-Save conflict). Before troubleshooting your network, ensure nobody else is playing on your account.
Method 1: Clear Console Cache (Power Cycle)
Destiny 2 caches temporary netcode to load faster. If this cache corrupts, you get constant disconnects.
For PS5/Xbox:
1. Turn off the console completely (not Rest Mode).
2. Unplug the power cord from the back.
3. Press and hold the power button 5 times to drain residual power.
4. Plug back in and restart.
This simple step fixes about 50% of 'Baboon' errors instantly.
Method 2: Enable UPnP (Port Forwarding)
Destiny 2 requires an Open NAT type. If your router restricts traffic, you will get kicked constantly.
Step 1: Router Login
Log into your router (usually 192.168.0.1 or 1.1).
Step 2: Find UPnP
Look for Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) in the Advanced or WAN settings. Toggle it ON. This allows Destiny to open the ports it needs automatically without you typing manual numbers.
Method 3: Switch to Wired (Packet Loss)
WiFi interference is the #1 cause of 'Weasel'. Microwaves, walls, and neighbors can interrupt the signal for just 1 millisecond—enough to get kicked from a Raid.
