Fix Messenger Error 190 Login Status 190 Invalid OAuth Token (2025)
Updated: 12/1/2025
You open Facebook Messenger to reply to a friend, and instead of your chats you see a notice about Error 190, invalid OAuth token, or you get kicked back to the login screen again and again. The Facebook app itself may still work, which makes the problem even more confusing. This usually means your session token has expired or become corrupted, and until you refresh it properly, Messenger will keep looping or failing to connect.

Method 1: Log Out Everywhere And Create A Fresh Session
If the error persists on Android, open Settings on your phone, go to Accounts or Users and accounts, and remove any Facebook account entries. Restart the device, then open Facebook or Messenger and sign in again so the system can create clean credentials.
Method 2: Reset Password And Fix Time Or Region Mismatch
Delete the Messenger app from your device, then open the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and download the latest version. After reinstalling, log in again using your updated password so the new app can fetch a valid OAuth token from the server.
Method 3: Clear Browser And WebView Data For Messenger
If the full app still gives Error 190, install Messenger Lite on Android or use the web version of Messenger in a browser as a temporary solution. If these alternatives work, it confirms the problem is localized to the main app on your device, and a future update may resolve it permanently.
