Fix PlayStation Error WS-37398-0 (Server Connection Failed)
Updated: 11/29/2025
You try to sign into PlayStation Network (PSN), and it fails instantly with: 'An error has occurred. (WS-37398-0)'. This is a widespread connectivity error that often hits entire regions at once. It essentially means the PSN authentication server rejected your console's request to log in, either because the server is overwhelmed or your local network configuration is stale.

Method 1: Check PSN Status
Before changing settings, ensure Sony isn't doing maintenance.
Go to status.playstation.com on your phone. If you see Red or Orange dots next to 'Gaming and Social', the servers are down. No local fix will work; you must wait for Sony engineers.
Method 2: Rebuild Database (Safe Mode)
If the servers are green but you still can't connect, your local network config file is corrupt.
Step 1: Safe Mode
Turn off the PS4/PS5. Hold the power button for 7 seconds (until the second beep).
Step 2: Rebuild
Connect your controller via USB. Select 'Rebuild Database' (Option 5). This cleans up the file system and often fixes connection handshake errors.
Method 3: Manual DNS
Sometimes your ISP can't find the PSN server route.
- Go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection.
- Select your network > Advanced Settings.
- DNS Settings: Manual.
- Primary: 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google).
- Secondary: 1.0.0.1 or 8.8.4.4.
