Fix PUBG 'Network Lag Detected' & Connection Timeout

Updated: 11/29/2025

You are in the final circle, sneaking through the grass, and suddenly your character freezes. The screen fades, and huge red text appears: 'Network Lag Detected'. A moment later, you are dead or kicked to the lobby. This error means the heartbeat signal between your PC and the PUBG server was interrupted for more than a few seconds, triggering the game's lag switch protection.

Method 1: Flush DNS and Renew IP

Stale routing data causes packet loss. Clearing it is the fastest way to stabilize a jittery connection.

Step 1: Admin CMD

Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter (Run as Admin).

Step 2: The Command Chain

Type these commands one by one, hitting Enter after each:

ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns netsh int ip reset

Restart your PC. This ensures your router assigns you a fresh connection route.

Method 2: Disable 'High Priority' Background Apps

PUBG Battlegrounds is extremely sensitive to bandwidth fluctuations. Even a small Windows Update download can trigger the lag detector.

  • Steam: Go to Settings > Downloads > Uncheck 'Allow downloads during gameplay'.
  • Windows: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Delivery Optimization > Turn OFF 'Allow downloads from other PCs'.

Method 3: Change Adapter Power Settings

Windows might be putting your Ethernet or WiFi card to 'Sleep' to save power, causing micro-stutters.

Step 1: Device Manager

Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.

Step 2: Network Adapters

Right-click your main adapter > Properties > Power Management tab.

Step 3: Uncheck

Uncheck the box that says 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. Click OK.
