Fix Ubisoft Connect Error 17008 Game Launch Failed (2025)

Updated: 11/29/2025

You launch a Ubisoft game from Ubisoft Connect or another platform, see the splash screen briefly, and then a dialog appears with Error 17008 or Game launch failed. The client may minimize or hang, and no matter how many times you click Play, the error keeps returning. This code usually indicates a problem with the game files, Ubisoft Connect services, or something on your PC blocking the game from starting correctly.

Method 1: Verify Game Files And Ubisoft Connect Installation

If verification repeatedly finds errors or fails to complete, consider moving the game to another drive through Ubisoft Connect if supported, or manually uninstall and reinstall the title onto a different SSD or HDD to rule out drive errors contributing to 17008.

Method 2: Fix Background Services, Overlays, And Security Software

Open your antivirus or security suite, locate the section for Exclusions or Allowed apps, and add both the Ubisoft Connect installation folder and the game’s folder to the allowed list. This reduces the chance that security scans will block or quarantine essential launch files and triggers like Error 17008.

Warning: Only exclude trusted Ubisoft folders and do not broadly disable your antivirus, keeping your system protected is more important than any one game.

Method 3: Repair Network And Platform Integrations

On Windows press the Windows key, type cmd, right click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator. Then enter these commands and press Enter after each.

netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns

Restart your PC once the commands complete and try launching the Ubisoft game again from Ubisoft Connect to see if Error 17008 is resolved.
