Fix Genshin Impact Error 31-4302 (Game Files Error)

You open the Genshin Impact launcher, hit 'Launch', and immediately see a white pop-up: 'Game files download error. Check your network settings. Error Code: 31-4302'. Despite what the text says, your network is usually fine. This error happens because the launcher (HoYoverse) has lost track of where the game files are actually installed, or a specific 'blob' file has become corrupted.

Method 1: Launch from the .EXE Directly

The launcher is often the problem, not the game itself. You can bypass it entirely.

Step 1: Find the Installation Folder

Navigate to where you installed the game (e.g., C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact Game).

Step 2: Run GenshinImpact.exe

Look for the file named GenshinImpact.exe (NOT launcher.exe). Right-click it and choose Run as Administrator. The game should open immediately without checking for updates.

Method 2: Delete 'blob_storage' Folder

If you must use the launcher (for updates), you need to clear its corrupted cache.

Step 1: Open Game Directory

Go to the installation folder again.

Step 2: Delete

Find the folder named blob_storage. Delete it. Also delete the file named mhyprot2.Sys if you see it (Anti-cheat temp file). Restart the launcher.

Method 3: Restore Game Files

If the files are truly broken, the launcher can fix them.

• Open the Launcher.
• Click the Gear Icon (Settings) in the top right.
• Select Game Resources > Repair Game Files.
• Click Repair Now. This will verify 60GB+ of data, so give it time.
