Fix Gmail IMAP In Outlook Error 0x800CCC0E Cannot Connect To Server (2025)
Updated: 11/29/2025
You add your Gmail account to Outlook or hit Send and Receive, and Outlook pops up Error 0x800CCC0E saying it cannot connect to the IMAP server. Web Gmail still works in the browser, so you know your password is correct, yet Outlook refuses to sync. This IMAP error usually means Outlook has wrong server settings, cannot authenticate properly, or is being blocked by a firewall or outdated security method.

Method 1: Verify Correct Gmail IMAP And SMTP Settings In Outlook
After updating values click Test Account Settings in Outlook and watch whether both incoming and outgoing tests pass. If the incoming test still fails, double check spelling and encryption options, even small typos can trigger 0x800CCC0E immediately.
Method 2: Enable Secure App Access In Gmail And Fix Login Prompts
For newer Outlook versions, add Gmail using the Google or Gmail provider option so OAuth is used, signing in through the Google dialog that appears. For older Outlook builds that do not support OAuth well, create an app password in your Google security settings and use that unique password in Outlook instead of your main Google password.
Method 3: Check Firewalls, Antivirus, And Network For IMAP Blocks
Configure the same Gmail account in a different mail client or on another device using the same IMAP settings, preferably on a different network such as mobile data. If it works there, your original PC or network has the filtering problem and may need deeper firewall adjustments.
On Windows you can also run the above command in an elevated Command Prompt to reset the network socket catalog, then reboot and test Outlook again.
