Fix Roblox Error 268: Unexpected Client Behavior (Kicked)
Updated: 11/29/2025
You are playing normally, and suddenly you get booted with the message: 'You have been kicked due to unexpected client behavior. (Error Code: 268)'. This is Roblox's anti-cheat system flagging your computer. It doesn't always mean you are hacking. It often triggers if you have a 'Cheat Engine' installed for other games, or if your internet connection is lagging so badly that your character moves in impossible ways.

Method 1: Delete GlobalBasicSettings (XML)
Roblox stores your local configuration in an XML file that often gets flagged. Deleting it forces a clean reset.
Step 1: Open AppData
Press Win + R, type %localappdata%, and hit Enter.
Step 2: Find Roblox Folder
Navigate to Roblox. You will see a list of folders like 'Versions' and 'Downloads'.
Step 3: Delete XMLs
Look for files named GlobalBasicSettings_13.xml, AnalysticsSettings.xml, or frm.cfg. Delete them all. Restart Roblox.
Method 2: Remove 'Cheat' Software
Roblox scans your active RAM for known exploit software. Even if you aren't using them in Roblox, having them open triggers Error 268.
- Close Cheat Engine.
- Uninstall any Auto-Clickers.
- Disable 'Roblox FPS Unlocker' if it is outdated.
Method 3: Flush DNS & Winsock
If the server thinks your packets are being manipulated (lag switching), it kicks you.
Run this in Admin Command Prompt and restart your PC to clear the network flag.
